Of the Father´s love begotten

1. Of the Father’s love begotten,
ere the worlds began to be,
He is Alpha and Omega,
He the source, the ending He,
of the things that are, that have been,
and that future years shall see,
evermore and evermore!

2. At His Word the worlds were framèd;
He commanded; it was done:
Heaven and earth and depths of ocean
in their threefold order one;
all that grows beneath the shining
of the moon and burning sun,
evermore and evermore!

3. He is found in human fashion,
death and sorrow here to know,
that the race of Adam’s children
doomed by law to endless woe,
may not henceforth die and perish
in the dreadful gulf below,
evermore and evermore!

4. O that birth forever blessèd,
when the virgin, full of grace,
by the Holy Ghost conceiving,
bare the Savior of our race;
and the Babe, the world’s Redeemer,
first revealed His sacred face,
evermore and evermore!

5. This is He Whom seers in old time
chanted of with one accord;
whom the voices of the prophets
promised in their faithful word;
now He shines, the long expected,
let creation praise its Lord,
evermore and evermore!

6. O ye heights of heaven adore Him;
angel hosts, His praises sing;
powers, dominions, bow before Him,
and extol our God and King!
Let no tongue on earth be silent,
every voice in concert sing,
evermore and evermore!

7. Righteous judge of souls departed,
righteous King of them that live,
on the Father’s throne exalted
none in might with Thee may strive;
who at last in vengeance coming
sinners from Thy face shalt drive,
evermore and evermore!

8. Thee let old men, thee let young men,
Thee let boys in chorus sing;
matrons, virgins, little maidens,
with glad voices answering:
let their guileless songs re-echo,
and the heart its music bring,
evermore and evermore!

9. Christ, to Thee with God the Father,
and, O Holy Ghost, to Thee,
hymn and chant with high thanksgiving,
and unwearied praises be:
honor, glory, and dominion,
and eternal victory,
evermore and evermore!

When the storms of life are raging

1. When the storms of life are raging
tempests wild on sea and land,
I will seek a place of refuge
in the shadow of God's hand

He will hide me,
he will hide me
where no harm can e'er betide me.
He will hide me
safely hide me
in the shadow of His hand

2. Tho' He may send some affliction
´twill but make me long for home,
for in love, and not in anger
all His chastenings will come.
He will hide me...

3. Enemies may strive to injure,
Satan all his arts employ.
He will turn what seems to harm me
into everlasting joy.
He will hide me...

Give of your best to the Master

1. Give of your best to the Master;
give of the strength of your youth.
Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardor
into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example,
dauntless was He, young and brave.
Give Him your loyal devotion;
give Him the best that you have.
REFR: Give of your best to the Master;
give of the strength of your youth.
Clad in salvation’s full armor,
join in the battle for truth.

2. Give of your best to the Master;
give Him first place in your heart.
Give Him first place in your service;
consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave.
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
give Him the best that you have.
REFR: Give of your best...

3. Give of your best to the Master;
naught else is worthy His love.
He gave Himself for your ransom,
gave up His glory above,
laid down His life without murmur,
you from sin’s ruin to save.
Give Him your heart’s adoration;
give Him the best that you have.
REFR: Give of your best...

O blessed the house

Alt.:

1. Oh, blessed the house, whate'er befall,
where Jesus Christ is all in all!
Yea, if He were not dwelling there,
how dark and poor and void it were!

2. Oh, blessed that house where faith ye find
and all within have set their mind
to trust their God and serve Him still
and do in all His holy will!

3. Oh, blessed the parents who give heed
unto their children's foremost need
and weary not of care or cost!
may none to them and heaven be lost!

4. Blessed such a house, it prospers well,
in peace and joy the parents dwell,
and in their children's lot is shown
how richly God can bless His own.

5. Then here will I and mine today
a solemn covenant make and say:
though all the world forsake Thy Word,
I and my house will serve the Lord!

More holiness give me

1. More holiness give me,
more strivings within.
More patience in suffering,
more sorrow for sin.
More faith in my Saviour,
more sense of His care.
More joy in His service,
more purpose in prayer.

2. More gratitude give me,
more trust in the Lord.
More zeal for His glory,
more hope in His Word.
More tears for His sorrows,
more pain at His grief.
More meekness in trial,
more praise for relief.

3. More purity give me,
more strength to o’ercome.
More freedom from earth-stains,
more longings for home.
More fit for the kingdom,
more useful I’d be,
More blessèd and holy,
more, Saviour, like Thee.

Saviour! I follow on

1. Saviour! I follow on,
guided by Thee,
seeing not yet the hand
that leadeth me;
hushed be my heart and still,
fear I no further ill;
only to meet Thy will
my will shall be.

2. Riven the rock for me
thirst to relieve,
manna from Heaven falls
fresh every eve;
never a want severe
causeth my eye a tear,
but Thou dost whisper near:
“Only believe!”

3. Saviour! I long to walk
closer with Thee;
led by Thy guiding hand
ever to be;
constantly near Thy side,
quickened and purified,
living for Him who died
freely for me!

Nearer my God to Thee

1. Nearer, my God, to Thee,
nearer to Thee,
e'en though it be a cross
that raiseth me;
still all my song shall be:
nearer, my God, to Thee,
nearer, my God, to Thee,
nearer to Thee!

2. Though like the wanderer,
the sun gone down,
darkness be over me,
my rest a stone;
yet in my dreams I'd be
nearer, my God, to Thee...

3. There let the way appear
steps unto heav'n;
all that Thou sendest me
in mercy giv'n;
angels to beckon me
nearer, my God, to Thee...

4. Then with my waking thoughts
bright with Thy praise,
out of my stony griefs
Bethel I'll raise;
so by my woes to be
nearer, my God, to Thee...

5. Or if on joyful wing,
cleaving the sky,
sun, moon, and stars forgot,
upwards I fly,
still all my song shall be:
nearer, my God, to Thee...

Amazing grace

1. Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound)
that sav'd a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.

2. 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears reliev'd;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believ'd!

3. Thro' many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come;
'tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.

4. The Lord has promis'd good to me,
his word my hope secures;
he will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.

5. Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.

6. The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
the sun forbear to shine;
but God, who call'd me here below,
will be forever mine.

In Heav´n above

1. In Heav’n above, in Heav’n above,
where God our Father dwells,
how boundless there the blessèdness!
No tongue its greatness tells;
there face to face, and full and free,
ever and evermore we see—
we see the Lord of hosts!

2. In Heav’n above, in Heav’n above,
what glory deep and bright!
The splendor of the noonday sun
grows pale before its light;
that mighty Sun that ne’er goes down,
before Whose face clouds never frown,
is God the Lord of hosts.

3. In Heav’n above, in Heav’n above,
no tears of pain are shed;
there nothing e’er shall fade or die;
life’s fullness round is spread,
and, like an ocean, joy o’erflows,
and with immortal mercy glows
our God the Lord of hosts.

4. In Heav’n above, in Heav’n above,
God hath a joy prepared,
which mortal ear hath never heard,
nor mortal vision shared,
which never entered mortal breast,
by mortal lips was ne’er expressed,
’tis God, the Lord of hosts!

Morn amid the mountains

1. Morn amid the mountains -
lovely solitude!
Gushing streams and fountains
murmur: "God is good!
God is good!"

2. Now the glad sun, breaking,
pours a golden flood.
Deepest vales, awaking,
ecco: "God is good!
God is good!"

3. Hymns of praise are ringing
through the leafy wood;
songsters, sweetly singing,
warble: "God is good!
God is good!"

4. Wake, and join the chorus,
child with soul endued;
He whose smile is o´er us,
God, our God is good!
God is good!

In the bleak midwinter

1. In the bleak mid-winter
frosty wind made moan,
earth stood hard as iron,
water like a stone;
snow had fallen, snow on snow,
snow on snow,
in the bleak mid-winter
long ago.

2. Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him
nor earth sustain;
heaven and earth shall flee away
when He comes to reign:
in the bleak mid-winter
a stable-place sufficed
the Lord God Almighty,
Jesus Christ.

3. Enough for Him, whom cherubim
worship night and day,
a breastful of milk
and a mangerful of hay;
enough for Him, whom angels
fall down before,
the ox and ass and camel
which adore.

4. Angels and archangels
may have gathered there,
cherubim and seraphim
thronged the air;
but only His mother
in her maiden bliss,
worshipped the Beloved
with a kiss.

5. What can I give Him,
poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
if I were a wise man
I would do my part,
yet what I can I give Him,
give my heart.

O come, o come, Emmanuel

1. O come, O come, Emmanuel,
and ransom captive Israel,
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

2. O come, Thou Wisdom from on high,
who orderest all things mightily;
to us the path of knowledge show,
and teach us in her ways to go.
Rejoice...

3. O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan’s tyranny;
from depths of hell Thy people save,
and give them victory over the grave.
Rejoice...

4. O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer
our spirits by Thine advent here;
disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
and deaths dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice...

5. O come, Thou Key of David, come,
and open wide our heavenly home;
make safe the way that leads on high,
and close the path to misery.
Rejoice...

6. O come, O come, great Lord of might,
who to Thy tribes on Sinai´s height
in ancient times once gave the law
In cloud and majesty and awe.
Rejoice...

7. O come, Thou Root of Jesse´s tree,
an ensign of Thy people be;
before Thee rulers silent fall;
all peoples on Thy mercy call.
Rejoice...

8. O come, Desire of nations, bind
in one the hearts of all mankind;
bid Thou our sad divisions cease,
and be Thyself our King of Peace.
Rejoice...

Jesus, priceless Treasure

1. Jesus, priceless Treasure,
source of purest pleasure,
truest Friend to me.
Ah, how long in anguish
shall my spirit languish,
yearning, Lord, for Thee?
Thou art mine, O Lamb divine!
I will suffer naught to hide Thee,
naught I ask beside Thee.

2. In Thine arms I rest me;
foes who would molest me
cannot reach me here.
Though the earth be shaking,
every heart be quaking,
Jesus calms my fear.
Lightnings flash and thunders crash;
yet, though sin and hell assail me,
Jesus will not fail me.

3. Satan, I defy thee;
death, I now decry thee;
fear, I bid thee cease.
World, thou shalt not harm me
nor thy threats alarm me
while I sing of peace.
God’s great power guards every hour;
earth and all its depths adore Him,
silent bow before Him.

4. Evil world, I leave thee;
thou canst not deceive me,
thine appeal is vain.
Sin that once did bind me,
get thee far behind me,
come not forth again.
Past thy hour, O pride and power;
sinful life, thy bonds I sever,
leave thee now forever.

5. Hence, all thought of sadness!
for the Lord of gladness,
Jesus, enters in.
Those who love the Father,
though the storms may gather,
still have peace within;
yea, whatever we here must bear,
still in Thee lies purest pleasure,
Jesus, priceless Treasure!

Praise the Lord, each tribe and nation

1. Praise the Lord, each tribe and nation,
praise Him with a joyous heart;
ye who know His full salvation,
gather now from every part;
let your voices glorify,
in His temple, God on high.

2. He’s our God, and our Creator,
we, His flock and chosen seed:
He, our Lord and Liberator,
us from sin and peril freed;
and at last His flock shall rest
in the mansions of the blest.

3. Give Him thanks within His portals;
in the courts His deeds proclaim;
hither come, ye ransomed mortals,
glorify our Savior’s Name.
Ever kind and loving, He
keeps His faith eternally.

We worship Thee, almighty Lord

1. We worship Thee, almighty Lord,
our hearts revere Thy gracious Word
when it goes forth
from Heav’n o’er all the earth.
Holy, holy, holy art Thou, O God!

2. Upon a mountain builded high,
Thy Church doth in Thy strength rely,
and standeth sure
while earth and time endure.
Holy, holy, holy art Thou, O God!

3. Through her shall every land proclaim
the sacred might of Jesus’ Name,
and all rejoice
with Christian heart and voice.
Holy, holy, holy art Thou, O God!

4. All nations to Thy throne shall throng
and raise on high the victory song,
while cherubim
reply to seraphim,
“Holy, holy, holy art Thou, O God!”

Sing, my tongue, the glorious battle

1. Sing, my tongue, the glorious battle,
sing the ending of the fray;
now above the cross, the trophy,
sound the loud triumphant lay:
tell how Christ the world’s Redeemer,
as a victim won the day.

2. He, our Maker, deeply grieving
that the first made Adam fell,
when he ate the fruit forbidden
whose reward was death and hell,
marked e’en then this Tree the ruin
of the first tree to dispel.

3. Tell how, when at length the fullness,
of th’appointed time was come,
Christ, the Word, was born of woman,
left for us His heavenly home;
showed us human life made perfect,
shone as light amid the gloom.

4. Lo! He lies an Infant weeping,
where the narrow manger stands,
while the Mother-Maid His members
wraps in mean and lowly bands,
and the swaddling clothes is winding
round His helpless feet and hands.

5. Thus, with thirty years accomplished,
went He forth from Nazareth,
destined, dedicated, willing,
wrought His work, and met His death.
Like a lamb He humbly yielded
on the cross His dying breath.

6. There the nails and spears He suffers,
vinegar, and gall, and reed;
from His sacred body piercèd
blood and water both proceed;
precious flood, which all creation
from the stain of sin hath freed.

7. Faithful cross, thou sign of triumph,
now for us the noblest tree,
none in foliage, none in blossom,
none in fruit thy peer may be;
symbol of the world’s redemption,
for the weight that hung on thee!

8. Bend thy boughs, O tree of glory!
Thy relaxing sinews bend;
for awhile the ancient rigor
that thy birth bestowed, suspend;
and the King of heavenly beauty
on thy bosom gently tend!

9. Thou alone wast counted worthy
this world’s ransom to sustain,
that a shipwrecked race forever
might a port of refuge gain,
with the sacred blood anointed
of the Lamb of sinners slain.

10. To the Trinity be glory
everlasting, as is meet:
equal to the Father, equal
to the Son, and Paraclete:
God the Three in One, whose praises
all created things repeat.

My Jesus, I would ne´er forget

1. My Jesus, I would ne’er forget,
that hour I spent with Thee;
when there I saw Thy bloody sweat
in dark Gethsemane.
I’ll ne’er forget, I’ll ne’er forget,
I’ll ne’er forgetful be,
when there I saw Thy bloody sweat
in dark Gethsemane.

2. ’Twas in that olive grove I felt
that Thou hadst died for me;
alas, how great I saw my guilt
while in Gethsemane.
I´ll ne´er forget...

3. I thought of how Thy heart did throb,
while all Thine own did flee,
and left Thee with the cruel mob,
in sad Gethsemane.
I´ll ne´er forget...

4. ’Twas there I felt my grief and shame
in oft forsaking Thee,
how precious was Thy very name
in dear Gethsemane.
I´ll ne´er forget...

5. Should e’er our love to Thee grow cold,
and we forgetful be,
we’ll call to mind Thy love untold
while in Gethsemane.
I´ll ne´er forget...

Lord, Thee I love with all my heart

1. Lord, Thee I love with all my heart;
I pray Thee, ne’er from me depart;
with tender mercy cheer me.
Earth has no pleasure I would share,
yea, Heav’n itself were void and bare
if Thou, Lord, wert not near me.
And should my heart for sorrow break,
my trust in Thee can nothing shake.
Thou art the portion I have sought;
Thy precious blood my soul has bought.
Lord Jesus Christ,
my God and Lord, my God and Lord,
forsake me not! I trust Thy Word.

2. Yea, Lord, ’twas Thy rich bounty gave
my body, soul, and all I have
in this poor life of labor.
Lord, grant that I in every place
may glorify Thy lavish grace
and serve and help my neighbor.
Let no false doctrine me beguile,
let Satan not my soul defile.
Give strength and patience unto me
to bear my cross and follow Thee.
Lord Jesus Christ,
my God and Lord, my God and Lord,
in death Thy comfort still afford.

3. Lord, let at last Thine angels come,
to Abr’am’s bosom bear me home,
that I may die unfearing;
and in its narrow chamber keep
my body safe in peaceful sleep
until Thy reappearing.
And then from death awaken me,
that these mine eyes with joy may see,
o Son of God, Thy glorious face,
my Savior and my fount of grace.
Lord Jesus Christ,
my prayer attend, my prayer attend,
and I will praise Thee without end!

For all the saints

Alt. tune:

1. For all the saints, who from their labors rest,
who Thee by faith before the world confessed,
Thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

2. Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress and their Might;
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well fought fight;
Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

3. For the Apostles’ glorious company,
who bearing forth the Cross o’er land and sea,
shook all the mighty world, we sing to Thee:
Alleluia, Alleluia!

4. For the Evangelists, by whose blest word,
like fourfold streams, the garden of the Lord,
is fair and fruitful, be Thy Name adored.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

5. For Martyrs, who with rapture kindled eye,
saw the bright crown descending from the sky,
and seeing, grasped it, Thee we glorify.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

6. O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

7. O may Thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold,
fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
and win with them the victor’s crown of gold.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

8. And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
steals on the ear the distant triumph song,
and hearts are brave, again, and arms are strong.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

9. The golden evening brightens in the west;
soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest;
sweet is the calm of paradise the blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

10. But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day;
the saints triumphant rise in bright array;
the King of glory passes on His way.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

11. From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast,
through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
and singing to Father, Son and Holy Ghost:
Alleluia, Alleluia!

Christ the Lord is risen today

1. Christ, the Lord, is risen today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth, reply, Alleluia!

2. Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Lo! the Sun’s eclipse is over, Alleluia!
Lo! He sets in blood no more, Alleluia!

3. Vain the stone, the watch, the seal, Alleluia!
Christ hath burst the gates of hell, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids His rise, Alleluia!
Christ hath opened paradise, Alleluia!

4. Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once He died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

5. Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

6. Hail, the Lord of earth and Heaven, Alleluia!
Praise to Thee by both be given, Alleluia!
Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia!
Hail, the resurrection, thou, Alleluia!

7. King of glory, Soul of bliss, Alleluia!
Everlasting life is this, Alleluia!
Thee to know, Thy power to prove, Alleluia!
Thus to sing and thus to love, Alleluia!

8. Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

9. But the pains that He endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation have procured, Alleluia!
Now above the sky He’s King, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

10. Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Lo, how a rose e´er blooming

1. Lo, how a rose e'er blooming,
from tender stem hath sprung.
Of Jesse's lineage coming,
as men of old have sung;
it came, a flow'ret bright,
amid the cold of winter,
when half spent was the night.

2. Isaiah 'twas foretold it,
the Rose I have in mind,
with Mary we behold it,
the virgin mother kind;
to show God's love aright,
she bore to men a Savior,
when halfspent was the night.

3. O Flower, whose fragrance tender
with sweetness fills the air,
dispel with glorious splendour
the darkness everywhere;
true man, yet very God,
from Sin and death now save us,
and share our every load.

Joy bells are ringing

1. Joy bells are ringing,
Christmas is bringing
tidings of Jesus’ birth.
Candles are gleaming,
gladness is streaming
out over all the earth.

2. Light is ascending,
nighttime is ending,
sunshine from God appears.
Hope of the ages,
foretold by sages,
comes to dispel all fears.

3. O what a treasure
God in His pleasure
lovingly gives today.
Grace to the lowly,
peace, pure and holy,
angels to men convey.

4. Come to the manger,
kindred and stranger,
hail now the newborn King!
In adoration
with jubilation
peoples and nations sing!

5. Banish all sadness,
fill me with gladness,
Jesus, whom I adore!
All else may perish,
Thee will I cherish
now and forevermore!

O little town of Bethlehem

Alt. mel.:

1. O little town of Bethlehem,
how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep
and dreamless sleep
the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
the everlasting Light;
the hopes and fears of all the years
are met in thee tonight.

2. For Christ is born of Mary,
and gathered all above,
while mortals sleep,
the angels keep
their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars together,
proclaim the holy birth,
and praises sing
to God the King,
and peace to men on earth!

3. How silently, how silently,
the wondrous Gift is giv’n;
So God imparts
to human hearts
the blessings of His Heav’n.
No ear may hear His coming,
but in this world of sin,
where meek souls will
receive Him still,
the dear Christ enters in.

4. Where children pure and happy
pray to the blessèd Child,
where misery
cries out to Thee,
Son of the mother mild;
where charity stands watching
and faith holds wide the door,
the dark night wakes,
the glory breaks,
and Christmas comes once more.

5. O holy Child of Bethlehem,
descend to us, we pray;
cast out our sin,
and enter in:
be born in us to-day.
We hear the Christmas angels
the great glad tidings tell:
o come to us,
abide with us,
our Lord Emmanuel!

Saviour of the nations, come

1. Savior of the nations, come;
virgin’s Son, here make Thy home!
Marvel now, O heaven and earth,
that the Lord chose such a birth.

2. Not by human flesh and blood;
by the Spirit of our God
was the Word of God made flesh,
woman’s offspring, pure and fresh.

3. Wondrous birth! O wondrous Child
of the virgin undefiled!
Though by all the world disowned,
still to be in heaven enthroned.

4. From the Father forth He came
and returneth to the same,
captive leading death and hell
high the song of triumph swell!

5. Thou, the Father’s only Son,
hast over sin the victory won.
Boundless shall Thy kingdom be;
when shall we its glories see?

6. Brightly doth Thy manger shine,
glorious is its light divine.
Let not sin o’ercloud this light;
ever be our faith thus bright.

7. Praise to God the Father sing,
praise to God the Son, our King,
praise to God the Spirit be
ever and eternally.

Lift up your heads, ye mighty gates

1. Lift up your heads, ye mighty gates;
behold, the King of glory waits;
the King of kings is drawing near;
the Savior of the world is here!
A Helper just He comes to thee,
his chariot is humility,
his kingly crown is holiness,
his scepter, pity in distress.

2. O blest the land, the city blest,
where Christ the Ruler is confessed!
O happy hearts and happy homes
to whom this King in triumph comes!
Fling wide the portals of your heart;
make it a temple, set apart
from earthly use for heaven’s employ,
adorned with prayer and love and joy.

3. Redeemer, come, with us abide;
our hearts to Thee we open wide;
let us Thy inner presence feel;
Thy grace and love in us reveal.
Thy Holy Spirit lead us on
until our glorious goal is won;
eternal praise, eternal fame
be offered, Savior, to Thy Name!

Our mighty God works mighty wonders

1. Our mighty God works mighty wonders —
what joy, to seem them all around!
Men’s idols fall before His thunders,
their altars crumbling to the ground.
He breaks the fetters, frees the slaves,
his fallen children still He saves.

2. His mighty Word goes forth to conquer,
its power destroys the forts of doubt.
The warriors bold yield up their armor
to Him who will not cast them out.
They cleansing find in Jesus’ blood
and laud and magnify our God.

3. Behold the host of brethren nearing
the gates of Heav’n with mighty tread,
with banners waving, singing, cheering,
they hail in joy their Royal Head;
and many more shall own His reign,
His wondrous love the victory gain.

4. O God, be praised! the day is nearing,
when to our ears a voice shall come:
Look up, the Lord is now appearing,
to gather all His loved ones home!
O blessèd day of jubilee!
For thee I wait! I wait for thee!

Jesus! the Name high over all

1. Jesus! the Name high over all,
in hell or earth or sky;
angels and men before it fall,
and devils fear and fly.
His only righteousness I show,
his saving grace proclaim;
’tis all my business here below
to cry “Behold the Lamb!”

2. Jesus! the Name to sinners dear,
the Name to sinners giv’n;
it scatters all their guilty fear,
it turns their hell to Heav’n.
His only righteousness I show...

3. Jesus! the prisoner’s fetters breaks,
and bruises Satan’s head;
power into strengthless souls it speaks,
and life into the dead.
His only righteousness I show...

4. O that mankind might taste and see
the riches of His grace!
The arms of love that compass me
would all the world embrace.
His only righteousness I show...

5. O that my Jesu´s heavenly charms
might every bosom move!
Fly, sinners, fly into those arms
of everlasting love.
His only righteousness I show...

6. Him I shall constantly proclaim,
though earth and hell oppose;
bold to confess His glorious Name
before a world of foes.
His only rigtheousness I show...

7. Happy, if with my latest breath
I may but gasp His Name,
preach Him to all and cry in death,
“Behold, behold the Lamb!”
His only righteousness I show...

Love Divine, all loves excelling

1. Love Divine, all love excelling,
joy of heaven, to earth come down,
fix in us Thy humble dwelling,
all Thy faithful mercies crown.
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
pure, unbounded love Thou art;
visit us with Thy salvation,
enter every trembling heart.

2. Breathe, oh, breathe Thy loving Spirit
into every troubled breast;
Let us all in Thee inherit,
let us find the promised rest.
Take away the love of sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
end of faith as its beginning,
set our hearts at liberty.

3. Come, Almighty, to deliver;
let us all Thy life receive.
Suddenly return and never,
nevermore, Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessings,
serve Thee as Thy hosts above,
pray and praise Thee without ceasing,
glory in Thy perfect love.

4. Finish, then, Thy new creation;
pure and spotless let us be.
Let us see Thy great salvation
perfectly restored in Thee,
changed from glory into glory,
till in heaven we take our place,
till we cast our crowns before Thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise.

O for a thousand tongues to sing

1. O for a thousand tongues to sing
my great Redeemer’s praise,
the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of His grace!

2. My gracious Master and my God,
assist me to proclaim,
to spread through all the earth abroad
the honors of Thy name.

3. Jesus! the name that charms our fears,
that bids our sorrows cease;
’tis music in the sinner’s ears,
’tis life, and health, and peace.

4. He breaks the power of canceled sin,
he sets the prisoner free;
his blood can make the foulest clean,
his blood availed for me.

5. He speaks, and, listening to His voice,
new life the dead receive,
the mournful, broken hearts rejoice,
the humble poor believe.

6. Glory to God, and praise and love
be ever, ever given,
by saints below and saints above,
the church in earth and heaven.

7. Look unto Him, ye nations, own
your God, ye fallen race;
look, and be saved through faith alone,
be justified by grace.

8. See all your sins on Jesus laid:
the Lamb of God was slain,
his soul was once an offering made
for every soul of man.

9. Harlots and publicans and thieves
in holy triumph join!
Saved is the sinner that believes
from crimes as great as mine.

10. Murderers and all ye hellish crew
in holy triumph join!
Believe the Savior died for you;
for me the Savior died.

11. With me, your chief, ye then shall know:
your sins are all forgiven!
Anticipate your heaven below,
and own that love is heaven.

Thine be the glory

1. Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory, Thou o'er death hast won.
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave clothes where thy body lay.
Thine be the glory, risen conquering Son,
endless is the vict'ry, Thou o'er death hast won.

2. Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
Lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom.
Let the Church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing;
for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting.
Thine be the glory...

3. No more we doubt Thee, glorious Prince of life;
life is naught without Thee; aid us in our strife.
Make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love:
bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above.
Thine be the glory...

Come, let us join our cheerful songs

1. Come, let us join our cheerful songs
with angels round the throne.
Ten thousand thousand are their tongues,
but all their joys are one.

2. 'Worthy the Lamb that died,' they cry
'To be exalted thus.'
'Worthy the Lamb,' our lips reply
'For He was slain for us.'

3. Jesus is worthy to receive
honour and power divine
and blessings, more than we can give
be, Lord, forever Thine.

4. Let all that dwell above the sky
and air, and earth, and seas,
conspire to lift Thy glories high
and speak Thine endless praise.

5. The whole creation join in one
to bless the sacred name
of Him that sits upon the throne
and to adore the Lamb.

My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine

1. My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
for Thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
if ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

2. I love Thee because Thou has first loved me,
and purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree.
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
if ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

3. I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
and praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
and say when the death dew lies cold on my brow:
if ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

4. In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow:
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

When I survey the wondrous cross

1. When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

2. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

3. See from His head, His hands, His feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?

4. Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small;
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

O take my hand dear Father

1. O take my hand, dear Father,
and lead Thou me,
till at my journey’s ending
I dwell with Thee.
Alone I cannot wander
one single day,
so do Thou guide my footsteps
on life’s rough way.

2. O cover with Thy mercy
my poor, weak heart,
lest I in joy or sorrow
from Thee depart.
Permit Thy child to linger
here at Thy feet,
Thy goodness blindly trusting
with faith complete.

3. Though oft Thy power but faintly
may stir my soul,
with Thee, my Light in darkness,
I reach the goal.
Take then my hand, dear Father,
and lead Thou me,
till at my journey’s ending
I dwell with Thee.

Lord Jesus Christ, be present now

1. Lord Jesus Christ, be present now,
Our hearts in true devotion bow,
Thy Spirit send with grace divine,
And let Thy truth within us shine.

2. Unseal our lips to sing Thy praise,
Our souls to Thee in worship raise,
Make strong our fiath, increase our light
That we may know Thy name aright:

3. Until we join the hosts that cry,
"Holy art Thou, O Lord, most high!"
And in the light of that blest place
Fore'er behold Thee face to face.

4. Glory to God the Father, Son,
And Holy Spirit, Three in One!
To Thee, O blessed Trinity,
Be praise throughout eternity!

Children of the heav´nly Father

1. Children of the heav’nly Father
safely in His bosom gather;
nestling bird nor star in Heaven
such a refuge e’er was given.

2. God His own doth tend and nourish;
in His holy courts they flourish;
from all evil things He spares them;
in His mighty arms He bears them.

3. Neither life nor death shall ever
from the Lord His children sever;
unto them His grace He showeth,
and their sorrows all He knoweth.

4. Praise the Lord in joyful numbers:
your Protector never slumbers.
At the will of your Defender
ev’ry foeman must surrender.

5. Though He giveth or He taketh,
God His children ne’er forsaketh;
His the loving purpose solely
to preserve them pure and holy.

All the way my Savior leads me

1. All the way my Savior leads me;
what have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
for I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

2. All the way my Savior leads me,
cheers each winding path I tread;
gives me grace for every trial,
feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
and my soul athirst may be,
gushing from the Rock before me,
lo! A spring of joy I see;
gushing from the Rock before me,
lo! A spring of joy I see.

3. All the way my Savior leads me
O the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
in my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
wings its flight to realms of day
this my song through endless ages—
Jesus led me all the way;
this my song through endless ages—
Jesus led me all the way.

There is a gate that stands ajar

1. There is a gate that stands ajar,
and through its portals gleaming
a radiance from the cross afar,
the Savior’s love revealing.
O depth of mercy! Can it be
that gate was left ajar for me?
For me! For me!
Was left ajar for me!

2. That gate ajar stands free for all
who seek through it salvation;
the rich and poor, the great and small,
of every tribe and nation.
O depth of mercy...

3. Press onward, then, though foes may frown,
while mercy’s gate is open;
accept the cross, and win the crown,
love’s everlasting token.
O depth of mercy...

4. Beyond the river’s brink we’ll lay
the cross that here is given,
and bear the crown of life away,
and love Him more in Heaven.
O depth of mercy...

Just as I am

1. Just as I am, without one plea,
but that Thy blood was shed for me,
and that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

2. Just as I am, and waiting not
to rid my soul of one dark blot,
to Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

3. Just as I am, though tossed about
with many a conflict, many a doubt,
fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

4. Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
sight, riches, healing of the mind,
yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

5. Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

6. Just as I am, Thy love unknown
hath broken every barrier down;
now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

7. Just as I am, of that free love
the breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Come to the Savior

1. Come to the Savior, make no delay;
here in His Word He has shown us the way;
here in our midst He’s standing today,
tenderly saying, “Come!”
Joyful, joyful will the meeting be,
when from sin our hearts are pure and free;
and we shall gather, Savior, with Thee,
in our eternal home.

2. “Suffer the children!” oh, hear His voice!
let ev’ry heart leap forth and rejoice;
and let us freely make Him our choice;
do not delay, but come.
Joyful, joyful...

3. Think once again, He’s with us today;
heed now His blest command, and obey;
hear now His accents tenderly say,
“Will you, My children, come?”
Joyful, joyful...

God Himself is with us

1. God Himself is with us:
Let us now adore Him,
and with awe appear before Him.
God is in His temple,
all within keep silence,
prostrate lie with deepest reverence.
Him alone
God we own,
Him our God and Savior;
praise His Name forever.

2. God Himself is with us:
Hear the harps resounding!
See the crowds the throne surrounding!
“Holy, holy, holy,”
hear the hymn ascending,
Angels, saints, their voices blending!
Bow Thine ear
to us here:
Hear, O Christ, the praises
that Thy church now raises.

3. O Thou fount of blessing,
purify my spirit;
trusting only in Thy merit,
Like the holy angels
who behold Thy glory,
may I ceaselessly adore Thee,
and in all,
great and small,
seek to do most nearly
what Thou lovest dearly.

Let us break bread together on our knees

1. Let us break bread together on our knees,
let us break bread together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

2. Let us drink wine together on our knees,
let us drink wine together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

3. Let us praise God together on our knees,
let us praise God together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

The sign of the cross I triumphantly bear

1. The sign of the cross I triumphantly bear,
though none of my kindred that emblem may wear.
I joyfully follow the champions of right,
who march on to glory, who march on to glory,
who march on to glory with weapons of might.

2. The Pillar that guides us through peril and strife,
the Rock that is cleft, giving waters of life,
is Christ and His cross. By His Spirit and Word
the heart He refreshes, the heart He refreshes,
the heart He refreshes, our Savior and Lord.

3. O Shepherd, abide with us, care for us still,
and feed us and lead us, and teach us Thy will.
And when in Thy heavenly fold we shall be,
our thanks and our praises, our thanks and our praises,
our thanks and our praises we’ll render to Thee.

Christian hearts, in love united

1. Christian hearts, in love united,
seek alone in Jesus rest;
has He not your love excited?
then let love inspire each breast;
members on our Head depending
lights reflecting Him, our Sun,
brethren His commands attending,
we in Him, our Lord, are one.

2. Come, then, come, O flock of Jesus,
covenant with Him anew;
unto Him Who conquered for us,
pledge we love and service true;
and should our love’s union holy
firmly linked no more remain,
wait ye at His footstool lowly,
till He draw it close again.

3. Grant, Lord, that with Thy direction,
“love each other,” we comply,
aiming with unfeigned affection
Thy love to exemplify;
let our mutual love be glowing,
thus will all men plainly see,
that we, as on one stem growing,
living branches are in Thee.

4. O that such may be our union,
as Thine with the Father is,
and not one of our communion
e’er forsake the path of bliss;
may our light ’fore men with brightness,
from Thy light reflected, shine;
thus the world will bear us witness,
that we, Lord, are truly Thine.

Holy God, we praise Thy Name

1. Holy God, we praise Thy Name;
Lord of all, we bow before Thee!
All on earth Thy scepter claim,
all in Heaven above adore Thee;
infinite Thy vast domain,
everlasting is Thy reign.

2. Hark! the loud celestial hymn
angel choirs above are raising,
cherubim and seraphim,
in unceasing chorus praising;
fill the heavens with sweet accord:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord.

3. Lo! the apostolic train
join the sacred Name to hallow;
prophets swell the loud refrain,
and the white robed martyrs follow;
and from morn to set of sun,
through the Church the song goes on.

4. Holy Father, Holy Son,
Holy Spirit, Three we name Thee;
while in essence only One,
undivided God we claim Thee;
and adoring bend the knee,
while we own the mystery.

5. Thou art King of glory, Christ:
Son of God, yet born of Mary;
for us sinners sacrificed,
and to death a tributary:
first to break the bars of death,
Thou has opened Heaven to faith.

6. From Thy high celestial home,
judge of all, again returning,
we believe that Thou shalt come
in the dreaded doomsday morning;
when Thy voice shall shake the earth,
and the startled dead come forth.

7. Therefore do we pray Thee, Lord:
help Thy servants whom, redeeming
by Thy precious blood out-poured,
Thou hast saved from Satan’s scheming.
Give to them eternal rest
in the glory of the blest.

8. Spare Thy people, Lord, we pray,
by a thousand snares surrounded:
keep us without sin today,
never let us be confounded.
Lo, I put my trust in Thee;
never, Lord, abandon me.

There´s a wideness in God´s mercy

1. There’s a wideness in God’s mercy, like the wideness of the sea; there’s a kindness in His justice, which is more than liberty. There is no place where earth’s sorrows are more felt than up in Heaven; there is no place where earth’s failings have such kindly judgment given.

2. There is welcome for the sinner, and more graces for the good; there is mercy with the Savior; there is healing in His blood. There is grace enough for thousands of new worlds as great as this; there is room for fresh creations in that upper home of bliss.

3. For the love of God is broader than the measure of our mind; and the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind. There is plentiful redemption in the blood that has been shed; there is joy for all the members in the sorrows of the Head.

4. ’Tis not all we owe to Jesus; it is something more than all; greater good because of evil, larger mercy through the fall. If our love were but more simple, we should take Him at His word; and our lives would be all sunshine in the sweetness of our Lord.

5. Souls of men! why will ye scatter like a crowd of frightened sheep? Foolish hearts! why will ye wander from a love so true and deep? It is God: His love looks mighty, but is mightier than it seems; ’tis our Father: and His fondness goes far out beyond our dreams.

6. But we make His love too narrow by false limits of our own; and we magnify His strictness with a zeal He will not own. Was there ever kinder shepherd half so gentle, half so sweet, as the Savior who would have us come and gather at His feet?

O boundless salvation

1. O boundless salvation! deep ocean of love,
o fullness of mercy, Christ brought from above,
the whole world redeeming, so rich and so free,
now flowing for all men,
now flowing for all men,
now flowing for all men, come, roll over me!

2. My sins they are many, their stains are so deep,
and bitter the tears of remorse that I weep;
but useless is weeping; thou great crimson sea,
thy waters can cleanse me,
thy waters can cleanse me,
thy waters can cleanse me, come, roll over me!

3. My tempers are fitful, my passions are strong,
they bind my poor soul and they force me to wrong;
beneath thy blest billows deliverance I see,
O come, mighty ocean,
O come, mighty ocean,
O come, mighty ocean, and roll over me!

4. Now tossed with temptation, then haunted with fears,
my life has been joyless and useless for years;
I feel something better most surely would be
if once thy pure waters,
if once thy pure waters,
if once thy pure waters would roll over me.

5. O ocean of mercy, oft longing I’ve stood
on the brink of thy wonderful, life giving flood!
Once more I have reachèd this soul cleansing sea,
I will not go back,
I will not go back,
I will not go back till it rolls over me.

6. The tide is now flowing, I’m touching the wave,
I hear the loud call of the Mighty to Save;
my faith’s growing bolder, delivered I’ll be;
I plunge ’neath the waters,
I plunge ’neath the waters,
I plunge ’neath the waters they roll over me.

7. And now, hallelujah! the rest of my days
shall gladly be spent in promoting His praise
who opened His bosom to pour out this sea
of boundless salvation,
of boundless salvation,
of boundless salvation for you and for me.

Pass me not, O gentle Savior

1. Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others Thou art calling,
do not pass me by.
Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry:
while on others Thou art calling,
do not pass me by.

2. Let me at Thy throne of mercy
find a sweet relief,
kneeling there in deep contrition;
help my unbelief.
Savior, Savior...

3. Trusting only in Thy merit,
would I seek Thy face;
heal my wounded, broken spirit,
save me by Thy grace.
Savior, Savior...

4. Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
more than life to me,
whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in Heav’n but Thee?
Savior, Savior...

Though your sins be as scarlet

1. “Though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson,
they shall be as wool!”
“Though your sins be as scarlet,
though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow,
they shall be as white as snow.”

2. Hear the voice that entreats you,
O return ye unto God!
Hear the voice that entreats you,
O return ye unto God!
He is of great compassion,
and of wondrous love;
hear the voice that entreats you,
hear the voice that entreats you,
O return ye unto God!
O return ye unto God!

3. He’ll forgive your transgressions,
and remember them no more;
he’ll forgive your transgressions,
and remember them no more;
“Look unto Me, ye people,”
saith the Lord your God!
He’ll forgive your transgressions,
he’ll forgive your transgressions,
and remember them no more,
and remember them no more
.

I have a future all sublime

1. I have a future all sublime,
beyond the realms of space and time,
where my Redeemer I shall see,
and sorrow nevermore shall be.

2. A precious heritage is mine;
’tis kept above by love divine;
and while I tarry here below,
He gives me what is best, I know.

3. O, God be praised, He planned for me;
from anxious care I’m spared and free;
he bids me cast on Him my care—
what then remains for me to bear?

4. Sweet peace within my soul doth dwell;
with joy I sing: “Now all is well,”
He leads me safely by His hand
until I reach the Glory Land.

5. O precious Savior, teach Thou me
to live my life more true to Thee
the little while I yet must roam
before I reach my heav’nly home.

Behold, the joyful day is nigh

1. Behold, the joyful day is nigh,
and angels’ voices from on high
proclaim the news in early morn
that the Good Shepherd now is born.

2. In quiet splendor forth He comes,
the scattered sheep and tender lambs
to gather, and their fold prepare
with all a shepherd’s tender care.

3. The gentle Shepherd we behold
who, not with silver and with gold,
but by His suffering and His death
will save us from eternal wrath.

4. His Church, though small its seed may be,
shall grow into a mighty tree,
with fruitful branches spreading o’er
the earth till time shall be no more.

5. Arise and shine, thy Light is come,
o humankind, O Christendom;
thy glory and thy peace is here;
the Savior of the world draws near.

6. All praise and glory be to Thee;
for wisdom, power, and majesty;
and for Thy grace, and mercy, Lord,
forever be Thy Name adored.

Now before Thee, Lord, we gather

1. Now before Thee, Lord, we gather
to receive Thy precious Word;
let Thy grace in showers, O Father,
on our parchèd hearts be poured.
Send Thy Holy Spirit o’er us,
with Thy quick’ning fire restore us,
at Thy table spread before us
fill our hung’ring souls, dear Lord.

2. May Thy Word, to us now given,
be retained in hearts contrite;
on the narrow way to Heaven
lead us in Thy perfect light.
Hush, within us, all commotion,
silence each disturbing notion;
may we, Lord, with true devotion
use this hour of grace aright.

3. Of the time may we avail us,
when to seek us Thou art near;
soon the day of grace may fail us,
and no message more we hear.
Turn our minds to meditation
on our need of Thy salvation;
urge on all Thine invitation—
to our prayer incline Thine ear.

O Father, Thy kingdom is come upon earth

1. O Father, Thy kingdom is come upon earth,
Thou rulest in all Thy creation;
Thou sendest Thy witnesses, telling Thy worth,
to call and entreat every nation,
with news of Thy mighty salvation,
with news of Thy mighty salvation.

2. They lift up a light amid shadows of fear,
and love is Thy banner above them;
no trouble shall touch them, no foes that appear
shall e’er from their loyalty move them;
’tis Thou dost uphold and approve them,
’tis Thou dost uphold and approve them.

3. They go in Thy strength, and they speak in Thy Name,
with power of Thy promise forth faring,
and during the battle the victory claim,
their trust in Thy strength is their daring,
salvation to all men declaring,
salvation to all men declaring.

The King shall come when morning dawns

1. The King shall come when morning dawns,
and light triumphant breaks;
when beauty gilds the eastern hills,
and life to joy awakes.
Not as of old a little child
to bear, and fight, and die,
but crowned with glory like the sun
that lights the morning sky.

2. O brighter than the rising morn
when He, victorious, rose,
and left the lonesome place of death,
despite the rage of foes.
O brighter than that glorious morn
shall this fair morning be,
when Christ, our King, in beauty comes,
and we His face shall see.

3. The King shall come when morning dawns,
and earth’s dark night is past;
O haste the rising of that morn,
the day that aye shall last.
The King shall come when morning dawns,
and light and beauty brings.
Hail, Christ the Lord! Thy people pray:
Come quickly, King of kings.

Work, for the night is coming

1. Work, for the night is coming,
work through the morning hours;
work while the dew is sparkling,
work ’mid springing flowers;
work when the day grows brighter,
work in the glowing sun;
work, for the night is coming,
when man’s work is done.

2. Work, for the night is coming,
work through the sunny noon;
fill brightest hours with labor,
rest comes sure and soon.
Give every flying minute,
something to keep in store;
work, for the night is coming,
when man works no more.

3. Work, for the night is coming,
under the sunset skies;
while their bright tints are glowing,
work, for daylight flies.
Work till the last beam fadeth,
fadeth to shine no more;
work, while the night is darkening,
when man’s work is o’er.

Once in royal David´s city

1. Once in royal David’s city
stood a lowly cattle shed,
where a mother laid her Baby
in a manger for His bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ her little Child.

2. He came down to earth from Heaven,
who is God and Lord of all,
and His shelter was a stable,
and His cradle was a stall;
with the poor, and mean, and lowly,
lived on earth our Savior holy.

3. And, through all His wondrous childhood,
He would honor and obey,
love and watch the lowly maiden,
in whose gentle arms He lay:
Christian children all must be
mild, obedient, good as He.

4. For He is our childhood’s pattern;
day by day, like us He grew;
He was little, weak and helpless,
tears and smiles like us He knew;
and He feeleth for our sadness,
and He shareth in our gladness.

5. And our eyes at last shall see Him,
through His own redeeming love,
for that Child so dear and gentle
is our Lord in Heav’n above,
and He leads His children on
to the place where He is gone.

6. Not in that poor lowly stable,
with the oxen standing by,
we shall see Him; but in Heaven,
set at God’s right hand on high;
where like stars His children crowned
all in white shall wait around.

O Jerusalem the blissful

1. O Jerusalem the blissful,
home of gladness yet untold,
Thou whose countless throngs triumphal
fill with joy thy street of gold
graven on thee, new and glorious,
they the King’s own Name behold!

2. Many are thy sons, O mother,
yon august and shining band!
Gentle peace in all thy borders
makes thee glad, O happy land!
Perfect is thy restoration,
bright in holiness to stand.

3. Here, a figure of the heavenly,
shines our temple, worthier grown
by its richer restoration
on the old foundation stone.
With a majesty and beauty
to the former house unknown.

4. Lord, we pray Thee, Master Builder,
great and holy, enter in,
fill Thy sanctuary quickly,
as our hallowing rites begin,
and Thyself its Consecrator
rest for evermore therein.

5. Make Thy servants, though unworthy,
temples of Thy grace to be;
let us not in flesh or spirit
prove disloyal unto Thee,
but in dedicated service
praise Thy Name adoringly.

6. Make, O royal Priest, Thine altar
here henceforth a throne of light,
ever held in highest honor,
and with many a gift made bright,
ever blessèd, ever peaceful,
ever precious in Thy sight.

7. Yea, our hearts, for these Thou judgest,
as Thy cleansèd altars bless,
by Thy Spirit’s grace renew us
unto perfect holiness,
and the sevenfold gifts from Heaven
grant us ever to possess.

8. Now to Thee, through endless ages,
O most holy Trinity,
highest honor, power unmeasured,
everlasting glory be;
God for ever and for ever,
Three in One, and One in Three.
